Subic is a Philippine town’s name, often conjuring up—to most people—thoughts of the exotic, the once-famed Subic U.S. Naval Base, or a world-class tourist site. It recently became the object of media attention because of the Smith-Nicole rape case that occurred there. But hardly anything substantial is known about Subic itself, particularly about its culturally rich story, from its aborigines’ era to the booming metropolis it is today. This book dovetails into this void in public knowledge. Subic’s gem of a geographical asset, Subic Bay, began as Zambales’ first city, Olongapo. After the base closing, thousands of Pinoy immigrants emigrated to the U.S. because of service with the base. But long before that, the ancestors of these people had a rich history. This book presents real-life nuggets of hitherto untold tales of people with an indomitable spirit pitted against war-bred toils, treachery, and Kemptais’ cloak-and-dagger actions. These make a treasure trove of fascinating, absorbing, movie-like moments of an intellectually entertaining journey.

Customer Rating: Summary: What Is This ?????? Comment: The author of this book was a substitute teacher at our school. He tried to sell us his books, and told us to go online and buy them. Not this one, but the other book he wrote, supposedly telling us how to get A grades in school. Isn't that illegal ????????
